Waihi Beach is one of the country’s most popular holiday destinations.

The beach community increases from a permanent population of 4,000 to over 30,000 during the summer holiday season.

Two local volunteer organisations are crucial to the Waihi Beach community. The Waihi Beach Lifeguard Service and the Waihi Beach Volunteer Coastguard provide vital services to keep locals and visitors safe in the waters of the Bay of Plenty.

The Fox family has had a beach home at Waihi Beach for several years. Ryan has enjoyed paddle boarding and surfing under the watchful eyes of the surf lifeguards since he was a teenager. In recent years, Foxy’s love of fishing has seen him launching his boat at the Bowentown Sports Fishing Club for a day on the ocean, with the peace of mind knowing the coastguard is only a call away.

The Fox is Ryan’s way of giving back to Waihi Beach.

“Thanks to the funds raised by Ryan and The Fox, the Coastguard has been able to invest in training for our new volunteers as well as support the maintenance programme of our equipment. Thanks, Foxy, you’re a star!”

Skipper – Waihi Beach Volunteer Coastguard.

“The support of The Fox these past few years has helped us immensely. The funds raised are crucial for us and have helped provide training equipment for new lifeguards. To know we have the support of Ryan supporting our small community means the world to us.”
